UPDATE: Lee County investigators believe heavy smoke killed a local woman found dead in a burning home Friday near Dixon.
Investigators are still waiting on autopsy results for 58-year-old Louise Lopez-Landherr whose identity was just released. The state fire marshal is trying to figure out what sparked the fire in a home on Clearview Road.
Crews say the flames were so intense they couldn’t go inside to save the woman. Dixon’s fire chief tells us it took several hours and more than a half-dozen fire departments to put it out.
DIXON (WIFR) -- The Lee County Sheriff's Department says a woman was killed early Friday morning in a house fire west of Dixon, near Kilgore and Clearview Roads.
Sheriff John Varga says the fire started around 4:20 Friday morning. The State Fire Marshall is investigating.
