Woman Arrested on Multiple Drug Charges

BELVIDERE (WIFR) -- On Tuesday, February 5, 2013 the Belvidere Police Department arrested a woman on multiple drug charges after receiving neighborhood complaints.

27-year-old Sheena Kesler, of Belvidere, IL, was charged with one count of unlawful delivery of a controlled substance within 1000 feet of a senior citizen complex (cocaine – class x felony), one count of unlawful delivery of a controlled substance (cocaine – class 1 felony) and two counts of endangering the life or health of a child. Kesler is currently being held in the Boone County Jail on a $100,000.00 (10%) bond.

Kesler’s arrest concluded a two month investigation by the Narcotics Unit of the Belvidere Police. Kesler allegedly sold cocaine to undercover officers while her two children, both under the age of eight, were present.

Kelsler was taken into custody on February 5th at a residence located in the 500 block of West Hurlbut Avenue, Belvidere. When detectives searched the residence, they seized cannabis, scales, drug packaging material, drug paraphernalia, U.S. currency and a vehicle. The children were also taken into protective custody and later turned over to the Department of Children and Family Services.

The investigation began after police received numerous complaints from area residents who reside in the 500 block of West Hurlbut Avenue. The arrest is another example of residents taking stock in their neighborhood and calling police. This partnership between the residents and the police department continue to help make Belvidere a safer community.
A Class X felony is punishable by 6-30 years in the Department of Corrections. A class 1 felony is punishable by 4-15 years in the department of corrections.
