ROCKFORD (WIFR) – A Rockford woman is accused of stealing thousands of dollars in unemployment benefits.
The Attorney General’s office alleges 49-year-old Margaret Smith got more than $18,000 in benefits under false pretenses. According to the investigation, Smith called the unemployment office claiming she was without a job when she was actually working.
She faces up to 25 years in prison.
