BELOIT (WIFR) -- David Pabst, Director of The Bureau of Transportation Safety announced a $35,000 reimbursement grant for the Beloit Police to use officers on overtime, enforcing alcohol laws on the roadway. The grant runs October 1, 2013 through September 30, 2014.

In the past, Beloit Police used these funds for hiring back officers in groups to patrol for alcohol related violations. These officers only work to catch violators and deter alcohol related violations. They often work weekends and special holidays. Social media will be used to announce these patrols.

New patrols begin this fall.
