WINNEBAGO COUNTY (WIFR) -- The mystery is now being taken out of how Winnebago County leaders are spending our tax dollars.
They're now providing all of that information online. It can be found on the county's newly designed website. In addition to the county checkbook there's other public information like meeting dates and agendas. That way we have the ability to be kept in the loop.
Bill Crowley, Winnebago County Auditor, says "We now have the technology where we can put this stuff out there in a reasonable manner, and people always should take interest in what their government's doing and this is one way to do it."
Typically Illinois is considered a corrupt state, but here's an interesting fact. The Sunshine Review tracks government transparency. They say our state is one of the best at providing public access to government records.
