WINNEBAGO COUNTY (WIFR) -- For the first time a Winnebago County deputy uses a new tool to save a life.
The sheriff's department says Thursday night around 8:00 p.m. they were called to the 6700 block of Harrison Avenue for an apparent drug overdose.
When the deputy got to the scene he used the drug Narcan on a 24-year-old man possibly suffering from a heroin overdose.
We're told less than a minute after giving the victim the medicine he started to regain consciousness.
Two weeks ago the Winnebago County Sheriff's Department started carrying Narcan for this very purpose.
