MILTON, Wis. (AP) -- A special wheelchair with attached skis has made it possible for a disabled dog to get around this winter.
Kadee Mae is a 10-year-old border collie whose hind quarters are paralyzed after she broke a bone in her back in January.
Her owner, Shiela Lund, of Milton, tells Janesville Gazette that Kadee Mae is healthy and energetic -- except for her inability to walk. Lund says she ordered a wheelchair so Kadee Mae could get around.
But with all the snow, the wheels were no good.
Lund says she worked with a Wisconsin couple to get donated skis and a Massachusetts company to have them shortened and attached to the wheelchair. She says Kadee Mae is now back to doing 2- to 3-mile walks each day.
