UPDATE: Water Main Break Disrupts Service in Rockford

ROCKFORD (WIFR) -- After a water main break that affected dozens of families on Rockford’s west side, we’re told everyone should have water at this time. However, the blocks from Tay St and S. Avon Street and Cedar St. to Selden St. are currently under a boil order.

The break happened around 5:30 last night near the city's Stanley Street Water Station. We're told crews removed an 80-year-old pipe and finished installing a new one early this afternoon. Public Works Director Tim Hanson says the city will do some sampling over the next 24 hours to make sure the water is safe to drink.
