Visit Beloit Selects New Executive Director

BELOIT (WIFR) -- Visit Beloit, the City of Beloit’s Visitors and Convention Bureau, has selected Monica Krysztopa as its new Executive Director. Krysztopa fills the vacancy created by Deb Frederiksen’s retirement in September of 2012. The search committee received a strong response to the job posting and the selection was made after a regional search and selection process.

In her new role, Krysztopa will oversee a staff of four Visit Beloit professionals, a large corps of volunteers that man the downtown Beloit welcome center and the state’s most heavily trafficked Travel Wisconsin Welcome Center (on I-39/I-90). In addition to serving the city and state in this capacity, Krysztopa will also strategically market Beloit as a destination for visitors, lead the development and implementation of a creative and effective marketing program, and collaborate with organizations including the Greater Beloit Chamber, Downtown Beloit Association and the Greater Beloit Economic Development Corporation. Her start date is Feb. 25.

“We couldn’t be more pleased that Monica accepted our offer to join us as executive director of Visit Beloit,” said outgoing Visit Beloit Board of Directors Chair Brenda Gould. “Our search committee was unanimous in its selection of Monica for the very reasons that, I know, will become quickly evident to our community and partnering organizations. Monica’s energy, creativity, and record as a first-rate marketer and manager impressed our committee and convinced us she was the right choice for Beloit.”

Krysztopa brings with her nearly 20 years of marketing experience. She comes to Beloit from the Rockford Area Convention & Visitors Bureau where she is the Executive Vice President. Prior to her work at the Rockford Area Convention & Visitors Bureau, Krysztopa was the Director of Marketing at several public companies. In addition to her professional success, Krysztopa also sits on several boards of directors, and works with several organizations to promote leadership skills for both children and adults.

Interim Executive Director Beth Jacobsen, who served on the search committee along with Gould said, “Monica has extensive marketing experience, strong leadership skills, and great enthusiasm for this position. We’re excited to have her join Visit Beloit and the Vision Beloit Partners next month.”

In a statement, Krysztopa shared her own enthusiasm saying “Beloit has amazing cultural, educational and tourism assets to promote and experience. I am excited and thrilled to work with the staff, Board of Directors and key stakeholders of Visit Beloit as the new executive director. Visit Beloit is a positive influence and economic driver of tourism in the community, and I see my role as collaboratively continuing to expand and grow Beloit’s market presence and exposure locally, regionally and nationally.”
