ROCKFORD (WIFR) -- It's called CryptoLocker and it'll destroy your computer. Local computer experts are warning us of a virus that's making it around Rockford.
It's being called "ransomware" because the malware forces you to pay to retrieve all your data after it downloads itself onto your computer. So far, the virus can be caught at many website, even Facebook and YouTube.
"It's pretty much the worst thing you can get," says Rockford Best Buy GM Shane Davis. He says we should be careful what links we click on and never give away sensitive information to any site or link that we don't know or trust.
