Vigil Held for Victim Hit by Car

ROCKFORD (WIFR)-

Family and friends of a man who was hit by a car and still fighting for his life is reminding us about safety on the roads.

Family and friends gathered at the corner of Appleton and Locust in Belvidere where Vicente Pedroza was run over last october.

Police say he was crossing Appleton Road when he was hit by a car.

Pedroza survived but is still in the hospital in a vegatative state. Today members of Lulac, a Latino group, prayed for Pedroza and all Latinos involved in car accidents.

"Luckily he's getting better but he's still in bad condition and I hope that we get justice and that we find a witness that's willing to testify."

The driver of the car that hit Pedroza was not charged with the accident.
