ROCKFORD (WIFR) -- Rockford's aerospace industry has a few connections to outer space, including the Mars rover, and now one worker at UTC Aerospace is receiving and out of this world award.
NASA gave Steve Tollefson the Space Flight Awareness Leadership Award on Tuesday. He's only the second person from Rockford to be recognized out of 450 nationwide since the early 1960s.
Tollefson says one of the hardest missions his team had to take on was after the Columbia Space Shuttle crash, when they had to figure out how to fix the shuttle before it could get back into service.
