ROCKFORD (WIFR) --- Remedies Renewing Lives has become the recipient of a $3,000.00 grant awarded by U.S. Bancorp Foundation, which provides cash contributions to nonprofit organizations in the areas of education, affordable housing and economic opportunity, and artistic and cultural enrichment. Total charitable contributions from the U.S. Bancorp Foundation reached nearly $23.2 million in 2012. U.S. Bank has six local branches to serve the Rockford community.
“Remedies could not be more grateful that U.S. Bank recognizes the need for services for vulnerable populations in our community,” stated Gary Halbach, President and CEO of Remedies.
Remedies has one of the largest domestic violence programs in Illinois and the only domestic violence shelter and program serving Winnebago and Boone counties. Remedies serves nearly 2,000 unduplicated victims, including nearly 400 children each year, all at no charge, by providing multiple services including emergency shelter, a 24-hour help or crisis line (815.962.6102), counseling, legal advocacy, children’s services, and professional training. Remedies also provides assessment and treatment services to those suffering from drug or alcohol dependence through individual, family or group counseling, prevention education and training, recovery support, relapse prevention counseling, and referrals to other resources. Remedies is a United Way community partner.
