UPDATE: The power has been restored to 18,000 Com-Ed customers across Winnebago County. We're told crews just fixed the problem at their substation near Boylan High School. The outage lasted about 30 minutes.
WINNEBAGO COUNTY (WIFR) – Crews with Com-Ed are hard at work tonight to get the lights back on for thousands of homes in the Stateline.
According to a Com-Ed spokesperson there was a problem at the power substation near Boylan High School. About 18,000 customers are in the dark in northwest Rockford as well as Loves Park and Machesney Park.
Crews are out as we speak but the company isn’t sure how long it will take to fix the problem.
