UPDATE: Foundation Restoring Laurent House Receives Major Donation to Help with Repairs

ROCKFORD (WIFR) – The Laurent House is still in need of major and costly repairs before it can reopen as a museum, but some help is on the way.

Rockford Area Realtors made a sizeable donation of more than $46,000 today to the foundation that is restoring the home built by famous American architect Frank Lloyd Wright. The organization has collected nearly $120,000, which they’ve collected over 2 years. Today's donation is going to be matched by a state grant, meaning the group will actually get more than $166,000 for the entire project.

"We're using our resources to make our community better. We believe that we need to reinvest in the community and a project like this is part of that reinvestment,” said Steve Bois, with Rockford Area Realtors.

It’s going to cost around $400,000 to get the home in shape by next June.
