UPDATE: Beloit Police Make Arrest in Weekend Shootings

BELOIT (WIFR) – Beloit Police have 25 year old Antwann Griffin, of Rockford, in custody as a suspect in the Silver Slipper Shooting that happened over the weekend.

Per Beloit Police Department’s Press Release:

On Sunday at approximately 1:58am Town of Beloit Police Officers responded to the Silver Slipper Saloon located at 1901 S. Wisconsin Avenue for a disturbance with shots fired. Upon arrival, officer's observed twenty to thirty unidentified people fleeing on foot and in vehicles from the parking lot. Investigation led police to a search for a silver Chevrolet Impala that was stopped by South Beloit Police shortly after the incident.

A short time after the incident, two subjects with non life threatening gunshot wounds showed up at a local hospital seeking treatment. The names of the subjects are being withheld at this time pending further investigation.

Subsequent investigation identified Antwann Griffin, 25, of Rockford, Illinois as a person of interest in the shooting. Griffin is currently in custody by Illinois authorities awaiting extradition proceedings. Two other occupants of the vehicle stopped by South Beloit PD were identified as John Griffin, 22 and Leanthony Lilly, 26, both of Rockford, IL. John Griffin was arrested for carrying a concealed weapon and Lilly was arrested for disorderly conduct.

Initial investigation revealed that the disturbance began after patrons at the Silver Slipper began making threats and hostile gestures inside of the bar. When the crowd exited the bar, the disturbance continued into the parking lot where it escalated.
