Two Unions Ratify New Contracts

ROCKFORD (WIFR) – After working without a new contract for more than a year, two unions in District 205 have finally reached a tentative deal.

Food service workers and paraprofessionals each ratified new contracts this week. Union representatives say they’re happy with the pay increase since many workers previously made less than 10 dollars an hour.

The four-year agreements increase pay by two percent retroactive to July of 2012. They’ll also get an extra $1.10 added to the base wage as of July of this year.

The school board will vote on the contracts Tuesday.
