UPDATE: Trial Begins for Man Accused of Having Drugs, Loaded Gun Hidden in Diaper

UPDATE: FREEPORT (WIFR) -- The trial begins for a Freeport man accused of using drugs and holding a gun in a car with a baby in the backseat.

Police say 18-year-old Isaiah Brown was with another man almost a year ago at a gas station in the 1700 block of South West Avenue.

According to officers, they say they could smell marijuana in the vehicle with a loaded pistol hidden in a diaper. The other man and the child’s father, Cortez Brown will go on trial in July.

FREEPORT (WIFR) -- Two Freeport men have been arrested after police say they found drugs, cash, and a loaded gun hidden in a diaper.

22-year-old Cortez Brown and 18-year-old Isaiah Brown were pulled over at Logan Street and McKinley Avenue in Freeport for driving in the wrong lane.

When the men were pulled over, police say they smelled marijuana coming from the car and found an infant in the back seat. When police searched the vehicle, they found marijuana, cash, and a loaded .22 caliber pistol hidden in a diaper.

According to Police, Cortez Brown is the baby’s father. DCFS was notified and the baby was released to its mother.
