FREEPORT (WIFR) -- A California company is still looking at Freeport as its newest venture. Turbo Coil first showed interest after hearing about Sensata workers’ efforts to stop the plant from closing on national television. They plan to hire 25 workers, some of whom were laid off from Sensata. Turbo Coil’s VP of Marketing toured Freeport in November. Mayor George Gaulrapp says they’re still on track to bring jobs to the city.
“I think they’ll probably start slowly and gradually expand here in Freeport. They like the fact that our workforce is very readily available and that they have several different opportunities as far as buildings.”
Mayor Gaulrapp says representatives from the company will visit Freeport again sometime this month. We’re told Turbo Coil’s CEO still hasn’t made up his mind.
