ROCKFORD (WIFR) -- Rosecrance's Triage Center has been busy since opening two weeks ago and we're told they did take some transfers from Singer Mental Health Center once Singer closed its doors.
“Early indications are that things are going very well and smoothly in spite of the newness, we know there are probably considerable adjustments and improvements that we'll have to make going forward,” said Phillip Eaton, President of Rosecrance.
Rosecrance helps mentally ill adults. Since the triage center opened, staff members have been evaluating 5 or 6 people a day. The center works closely with first responders and police officers.
There are 7 beds for severely ill patients to stay, but only for up to two weeks. Eaton says he plans to hire 18 an additional people.
