UPDATE: Travel writers from across the country and the globe are spending their second day in the Forest City.
This morning, they attended a trade show at Giovanni’s and then took a tour around the city. There are about 100 journalists here for five days, so they’re filling up a lot of hotel rooms and spending a great deal of money at local restaurants and shops. If they write positive articles, that could drum up even more business for the Rockford region.
ROCKFORD (WIFR) – The Rockford Area Visitors and Convention Bureau (RACVB) is calling this week a “game changer”.
For the first time ever, the Stateline has been selected for the annual Travel Media Showcase, meaning hundreds of travel writers are coming to the Forest City to see what we have to offer and hopefully write about their experiences later. This afternoon they got a tour of the Midway Village Museum and got to chat with some of the original Rockford Peaches.
“They’re coming as close by as Crystal Lake and as far away as the Philippines so we’ve got a pretty eclectic group and we’re excited to have them here.”
