Transform Rockford Building a Vision

ROCKFORD (WIFR) – It was another full house at a meeting aimed at improving the Stateline.

“Look around the room. We probably have over a hundred people and how exciting is that?”

It’s standing room only for yet another “Transform Rockford” meeting. The room inside Orton Keyes filled to capacity as families are working together to improve our community.
The event is one of the seven “visioning sessions”, organized by Transform Rockford. It’s a chance for people to write down their biggest concerns before brainstorming in groups to figure out which topics have the biggest impact on our area.

“It’s gone a little downhill, so if I ever have children, I want to make sure that they’re in a community that is safe and that they’ll have a job to go to,” said Rockford resident Emily Plumb.
Organizers say they’ll use this information to come up with a concrete plan to improve our community.

Most people were concerned with things like education, public safety, and the overall look of the area. One person even said they envision a future Rockford in which other cities can look up to.
Transform Rockford has six more visioning sessions planned for the month. The next meeting is scheduled for this Thursday at the second Congregational Church at noon to talk about challenges our community faces.

The next visioning session is this Thursday at Second Congregational Church.
