Traffic Activity Over 4th of July Holiday in Rockford

ROCKFORD (WIFR) -- Law enforcement agencies throughout Illinois participated in a statewide effort to get drunk drivers off the roadways and encourage seat belt use, especially during late-night hours.

Extra emphasis was given to the late-night hours when statistics show the highest number of motorists drink and drive and the fewest buckle up.

During this extra patrol the following arrests were made:

1. Safety Belts: 2
2. Uninsured Motor Vehicles: 2
3. Suspended driver: 1
4. Illegal Transportation of Alcohol: 1
5. Other Traffic: 5
6. Warrants served: 3

The recent law enforcement activity was funded by federal traffic safety funds through IDOT’s Division of Traffic Safety and is part of the statewide Drive Sober or Get Pulled Over and Click It or Ticket campaigns.
