ROCKFORD (WIFR) -- It's been a year in the making and now a major piece of artwork in the Rockford School District allows students to take a trip under the sea.
Thurgood Marshall School unveiled its Oceania Mural on Thursday. More than 2,000 mosaic tiles were used to create this masterpiece. Every student, teacher and even family members helped make this project. Eight grader Lily Johnson says it's impressive.
"It's really cool. It's nice seeing that all of our work has paid off and it's really cool to be able to see our art on the wall."
The mural was made possible through a grant from the Illinois Arts Council.
