UPDATE: Police Arrest Man in Mobil Gas Station Murder

UPDATE: A teenager accused of killing a 22 year old during a fight outside a downtown Rockford gas station is now behind bars.

19 year old Tronte Pickett was arrested Saturday morning at Auburn Manor. Officers were called there for an incident involving two men with a gun. Police say Pickett and 22 year old Eric Brown Jr. were in a common hallway. Both were arrested.

Pickett was wanted for the Attempted Murder of 22 year old Jordin Bounsinh. He was shot to death outside the Mobil gas station at State and Summit in September.

Pickett has been on the run ever since. Investigators say that attempted murder charged will likely be bumped up to murder at Pickett's first court appearance.


UPDATE: A Rockford man has been charged with attempted first degree murder after a man was killed over the weekend.

In the early morning hours of Saturday, September 21, police officers responded to the Mobil Gas Station on E. State Street across from SwedishAmerican Hospital for a report of a shooting.

Rockford Police say two men started yelling at each other while inside the gas station. They took the fight outside, and that's when the shooting started. Officers say one of the men, identified as 22-year-old Jordan Bousinh was shot in the head and later died from his injuries.

19-year-old Tronte Pickett of Rockford has been accused of Attempted First Degree Murder. Anyone with information regarding this incident or the whereabouts of Pickett is encouraged to contact the Rockford Police shift commander at (815)987-5824 or CrimeStoppers at (815)963-7867.

Rockford Police Detectives will again be reviewing the results of the investigation with the Winnebago County State’s Attorney’s Office to seek additional charges due to Bounsinh’s death. Police are not releasing a photograph of Pickett due to the ongoing nature of the investigation.


ROCKFORD (WIFR) -- A man shot in the head overnight dies from his injuries. The Winnebago County Coroner says Jordan Bounsinh, 22, died at 10:25 Saturday morning. He was shot around 2:15am Saturday at the Mobil Gas Station on E. State St., across from Swedish American Hospital. Bounsinh's death is still under investigation. Police have not made any arrests.



ROCKFORD (WIFR) -- A very busy night for Rockford Police as gunfire erupted all over the city early Saturday morning. Three people were shot, one of them in the head.

The first and most serious happened around 2:15 Saturday morning at the Mobile Gas Station on E. State Street, right across the street from Swedish American Hospital. Rockford Police say two men started yelling at each other while inside the gas station. They took the fight outside, and that's when the shooting started. Officers say one of the men was shot in the head. His condition is considered life-threatening.

Two others are expected to be okay after a shooting at the Orton Keys Housing Complex. That's near Kishwaukee, south of Harrison. Police say around 3:30 Saturday morning three people got into a fight, two were shot. Police say the victims know who shot them, but won't tell officers who it was. Again, both victims are expected to be okay.

Finally, two people are lucky they weren't hurt when a gunman opened fire on their home while they were inside. Officers say the home in the 1900 block of Clover Avenue was hit multiple times. Police haven't made any arrests yet in any of these shootings.
