ROCKFORD (WIFR) -- An exciting event will mark its 20th year here in the Rockford this weekend.
The Black Family Reunion Celebration returns Friday night for a weekend of fun. The nationwide event was first celebrated in 1986 and highlights the strengths and traditional values of the African-American family. This year the event is honoring Doris Baker and her family. The proud mother says she feels so blessed.
"It's just wonderful to have a chance to show my family off and which I'm proud of. And the things they have done and I think this occasion is wonderful." Baker said.
The Black Family Reunion Celebration Opening Reception is Friday night at 6:00 p.m. at West Middle School. Tickets are $20. The main celebration are Saturday and Sunday at Levings Lake Park. The fun starts at 11:00 a.m. and admission is Free. For more information just check GoRockford.com.
