ROCKFORD (WIFR) -- This year marks the 100th anniversary for one local religious organization. The Jewish Temple Beth-El held its first event Friday night to commemorate its century milestone in Rockford.
Leaders from the community, including Rockford Mayor Larry Morrissey and State Senators Steve Stadelman and Dave Syverson, were among those in attendance for the special worship service. More than 120 families are members of the century-old congregation. Throughout the coming year, a number of activities are planned to celebrate the rich history of the temple.
On February 9th, the temple will be sponsoring a night at the Rockford Symphony in which Jewish composers will be featured.
