STATELINE (WIFR) -- Several ceremonies are underway across the Stateline to pay tribute to those who have served.
At the Tebala Shrine Temple, dozens of local vets and their families gathered for a luncheon.
Two keynote speakers addressed the crowd, the first Vietnow Director and Auburn grad John Bates and a World War II vet who helped to liberate a concentration camp.
Earlier today the Rockford Park District foundation hosted "a tribute to veterans.”
U.S. Marines and members of a local VFW presented the colors as the Harlem High School wind ensemble played "God Bless America". Afterwards, the crowd headed over to the field of honor veterans memorial for a wreath laying ceremony.
Hospice Care of America and the Cremation Society of Illinois hosted the event.
