Event at Tebala Shrine Temple Honors Veterans

STATELINE (WIFR) -- Several ceremonies are underway across the Stateline to pay tribute to those who have served.

At the Tebala Shrine Temple, dozens of local vets and their families gathered for a luncheon.

Two keynote speakers addressed the crowd, the first Vietnow Director and Auburn grad John Bates and a World War II vet who helped to liberate a concentration camp.

Earlier today the Rockford Park District foundation hosted "a tribute to veterans.”

U.S. Marines and members of a local VFW presented the colors as the Harlem High School wind ensemble played "God Bless America". Afterwards, the crowd headed over to the field of honor veterans memorial for a wreath laying ceremony.

Hospice Care of America and the Cremation Society of Illinois hosted the event.
