ST. CHARLES, Ill. (AP) -- A DeKalb County man has been sentenced to 12 years in prison in connection with a crash that killed an 11-year-old boy.

Twenty-nine-year-old Benjamin J. Black of Sycamore was sentenced Wednesday.

Prosecutors say Black was driving under the influence of heroin and another drug in February of last year when his vehicle struck the rear of another car in Kane County, killing Matthew Ranken of Sycamore.

The car Ranken was in was being stopped because of an earlier accident. A front-seat passenger was severely injured.

Black pleaded guilty in November to two counts of aggravated DUI.
