Suspect Caught After Burglary And Car Chase

On Friday, November 2, 2012 at approximately 10:40 a.m., members from the Rock County Sheriff’s Office Detective Bureau and Special Investigations Unit (SIU) discovered a burglary in progress at 1240 S Emerald Grove Rd. The suspect, identified as Timothy L Garland M/W 03/10/81 drove away from the residence in a 1998 maroon Chrysler Sebring. As investigators were attempting to apprehend Timothy Garland, he attempted to elude investigators by travelling at a high rate of speed. Deputies from the Rock County Sheriff’s Office pursued Timothy Garland on E. Rotamer Rd to N Highway 26 into the City of Janesville where they lost sight of the vehicle.

At approximately 10:55 p.m., Investigators found Timothy Garland’s vehicle parked and abandoned at the Park Place Apartments, located at 2707 Park Place Lane in the City of Janesville. Members of the Rock County Sheriff’s Office, Janesville Police Department and Wisconsin State Patrol responded to the area. At 10:59 a.m., Officers from Janesville Police Department located and apprehended Timothy Garland at Camden Park after a brief foot pursuit. Timothy Garland was taken to the Rock County Jail on a Probation Hold pending the conclusion of this investigation.

A search of Timothy Garland’s vehicle led to the recovery of stolen items from this burglary. This is an ongoing investigation as investigators continue to work solving similar burglaries where Timothy Garland could be a possible suspect.

Pursuant to the directive of the Wisconsin Supreme Court, as found in Supreme Court Rule 20:3.6, Trial Publicity, you are advised that a charge is merely an accusation and that a defendant is presumed innocent until proven guilty.
