ROCKFORD (WIFR) -- As the entire country continues to try to recover from the recession. A CBS News study suggests Rockford's recovery will be the 2nd hardest in the nation to accomplish.
The survey looked at cities where home prices have the farthest to go to climb back to their per-recession peak, and also where prices are still declining. Rockford ranked 2nd out of over 300 cities. The Forest City needs to have it's home prices grow by 31.5% to match it's peak. And this year prices have declined by 3 percent.
That ranks Rockford as the second worst behind another Illinois city, Kankakee. Wheeling, West Virginia, Las Cruces, New Mexico, and Bangor, Maine round out the bottom five.
