ROCKFORD (WIFR) -- The unemployed may find a job working for the State of Illinois. That's because of a huge surge in people retiring soon.
The state employees retirement system reports 40-percent more state workers are cashing it in earlier than expected. That's more than four thousand people. Many fear Illinois' budget mess will cost them their jobs or changes to the pension system will reduce what's left to live on.
