UPDATE: Little Library Voting

UPDATE: ROCKFORD (WIFR) -- The voting is in for a different kind of ballot box, one that contains free books.

Eight teams from the YMCA’s summer internship showed off their creative flair with the building of little free libraries. They are basically community boxes where anyone can pick up a book for free or leave a book for their neighbors.

In addition to making the Little Free Libraries, team members also had to choose where they want to put them around the city.

ROCKFORD (WIFR) -- Some students are making good use of their hands this summer to make more books available in the community.

The YMCA has teamed up with the Northwestern Illinois Building Trades Council
to challenge two teams of interns to build little free libraries.

Those are little boxes or structures where anyone can pick up or leave a book. The students have also been working on where to get books from and locations for the sites.

You can go vote for each team's library between 8:00 - 10:00 AM Friday at the Carpenters Training Center at 1117 Tebala Blvd, Rockford, IL 61108.
