Storm Damages Campground in Southwest Wisconsin

PRAIRIE DU CHIEN, Wis. (AP) -- Severe storms with high winds moving through southwestern Wisconsin have knocked over campers and uprooted trees at a campground near Prairie du Chien.

Authorities say no one was injured when a possible tornado touched down at the Jelly Stone Campground in the town of Bagley Wednesday night.

Fire Chief Fred White tells WKBT-TV several trailers are on their sides and downed power lines have left about half the town without power.

Crawford County emergency managers suspect the damage was caused by a tornado, but the National Weather Service has not confirmed that.

Richland County Emergency Management officials say several businesses in Richland Center were damaged by the storm. In Trempealeau County, there are reports of scattered trees down and power outages.
