Stolen Laptop Recovered After Home Invasion

ROCKFORD (WIFR) – Around 12:45am on the 3600 block of Cardinal Lane Police responded to a home invasion.

When officers arrived on scene they learned that three men forced their way into the home. A male resident there told police his girlfriend, their one year old child and he were in their bedroom sleeping when he heard what sounded like someone pounding on and possibly trying to force entry through the rear door of the residence. The 3 suspects, one armed with a handgun, forced their way into the home and the man closed and held the bedroom door shut while his girlfriend climbed out of a window with their child. He followed them and the suspects forced open the bedroom door as he was climbing out of the window.

The man, woman, and child ran to a neighbor’s home and the neighbor called police. The suspects fled the scene prior to police arrival. The residents claimed to not know who the suspects were, why they broke into their home or what, if anything, they may have been after. Burglary is the suspected intent since the suspects took a notebook computer but police recovered it a few blocks from the residence.

Officers located over 10 grams of cannabis and several items of cannabis related paraphernalia at the residence. Police charged the male resident with possession of cannabis and possession of drug equipment.
