Stateliners Take Part in Good Friday Events

STATELINE (WIFR) -- Stateline Christians hope their actions on Good Friday will help garner attention for the less fortunate in our communities. Rockford Urban Ministries annual walk for justice began around 9 a.m. today. Dozens of Stateliners walked to 14 stations across the city like Rosecrance and the County Jail to stop and pray. Director Stanley Campbell says each site was selected because it helps serve the less fortunate, or it needs more compassion from the city.

"It's a reminder. It's a reminder to care about our city and to pray for our city and the people in our city,” said Catherine Rennert who took part in today's walk.

The walk takes about an hour and 15 minutes to complete. This is the 28th year Rockford Urban Ministries has taken part.

Across town, Westminster Presbyterian held a special Good Friday service at noon today. Dozens of Stateliners gathered to worship. Good Friday is the day Christians believe Jesus was crucified.
