ROCKFORD (WIFR) – Our kids will be a little bit safer in District 205 thanks to some new money going towards security improvements.
The Rockford School District has been awarded over $703,000 in grant money. Also Northern Illinois University is receiving over $200,000 and Dixon schools get about $68,000.
All of these schools will use this money to limit access to who can get into school buildings. Rockford schools will be adding audio and video intercoms as part of the new grant while NIU will be installing more security cameras across campus.
