State Sen. Brady Considering 2014 Run for Governor

BLOOMINGTON, Ill. (AP) -- Republican state Sen. Bill Brady says he is laying the groundwork to run for governor in 2014.

WJBC Radio reports Brady sent an email to supporters asking if he should run and asking them to donate to his campaign.

The Bloomington lawmaker defeated six other candidates in the 2010 Republican primary, but lost the general election to Democratic Gov. Pat Quinn.

In his email, Brady says hundreds if not thousands of people have asked him to "finish the job" he started three years ago. He says he will make a final decision on whether to run by June.

Other Republicans considering a bid are state Treasurer Dan Rutherford and Congressman Aaron Schock. State Sen. Kirk Dillard already has announced his candidacy.
