State Police Plan for Roadside Safety Checks

MGN Online

WINNEBAGO COUNTY (WIFR) -- If we want to avoid a DUI on our records, we'll want to have a designated driver Saturday night.

Illinois State Police are back at it again this weekend.

They're holding a roadside safety check tonight somewhere in Winnebago County.

They're not just looking for drunk drivers.

Anyone with open alcohol, a suspended license, or who isn't wearing a seat belt also faces getting a ticket or being arrested.

State police say DUI's, whether they involve alchol or drugs, is a significant factor in nearly 40 percent of all deadly crashes in Illinois.
