State Announces $486 Million Spring Construction Program for Roads and Bridges

CHICAGO (WIFR) – Today it was announced that $486 million in road and bridge projects will be started this spring - one of the largest early-season construction programs in the state’s history.

The announcement is part of the governor’s agenda to create jobs and drive Illinois’ economy forward by investing in our transportation systems. A list of nearly 200 road and bridge projects across the state that will begin in the coming weeks was also released today. Find a list of projects in our area below. Projects in Winnebago County:

  • County-wide sign replacement
    Cost: $333,000

  • Resurfacing on US 20 from Fairview Avenue to Mid-America Drive in Rockford
    Cost: $3,600,000

  • Cold Miling, pavement patching, and HMA resurfacing on US 20 interchange ramps at IL 251. US 20 eastbound off ramps to IL 251 northbound and IL 251 southbound.
    Cost: $200,000

    Projects in Jo Daviess County:

  • Removal and replacement of two (2) box culverts along IL 84, located 0.8 and 0.9 mile north of Council Hill Road and North of Galena
    Cost: $650,000

    Projects in Lee County:

  • Pavement patching on IL 26 (Galena Avenue) from Patrick’s Court to I-88 in Dixon
    Cost: $30,000

    Projects in DeKalb County:

  • Bridge repair over BNSF RR, 0.5 mile east of Shabbona, Set aside Candidate- N
    Cost: $440,000

  • Resurfacing from First Street to IL 72 in Genoa
    Cost: $139,000
