MACHESNEY PARK (WIFR) -- Some Stateline workers who were furloughed because of the government shutdown are back on the job.
Nate Seabaugh works on trucks at the National Guard armory in Machesney Park. He and 11 other technicians were asked to come back this week. However, they don't think they'll get paid for the five days they missed last week, and they're not sure when they'll see their next paycheck.
“It takes a hit but there are a lot of people who flat out just don’t have a job so I'm just thankful to be working,” says Nate Seabaugh. “What we do is important for the defense of Illinois and our country internationally so it’s important for me to be at work."
The House passed a measure to give federal employees back pay once the shutdown is over. The Senate is expected to vote on that plan this week.
