Smart Phone Apps Helping to Curb Smoking?

NEW ZEALAND (WIFR) -- New apps are being added to the Apple store and Google Play store every day and quite a few of them claim to help you stop smoking.

Now researchers say the developers just might be onto something.

Scientists in New Zealand looked at 9,000 people trying to quit smoking. They found their patients were less likely to smoke during a six month period if they received positive text messages and advice on their phone. They say the success rate doubled for smokers who were encouraged via text compared to those who weren't.
