Shooting on Rockford's Southeast Side Sends 1 to Hospital

ROCKFORD (WIFR) – Police say a man with a White Sox tattoo on his face could be to blame for a drive-by shooting on Rockford’s west side.

It happened before 11:00 Tuesday night in the 600 block of Gregory Street.

Officers say a 23-year-old man was standing in the street when a Jeep Liberty or Cherokee pulled up and fired five or six shots. The victim as struck in the back. He’s recovering in the hospital and is expected to be okay.

Police are looking for the driver and a passenger who witnesses say has a White Sox tattoo on the right side of his face.

ROCKFORD (WIFR) -- One person was rushed to the hospital Tuesday night after a shooting on Rockford's south east side.

Police were called to the 600 block of Gregory Street around 11:00 p.m. Officers on the scene say the victim is expected to be OK.

Police say two suspects were seen running away from the scene after the shooting. No one is in custody.

As of 11:50 p.m. police were still on the scene investigating.
