Shared Values Major Part of Transform Rockford's Vision Plan

ROCKFORD (WIFR) – We’re getting a little insight into the Community Vision plan that Transform Rockford will debut to the public next week. Transform Rockford leaders say we have to change our climate and mentality about our city before we can start to change the culture of the region.

Transform Rockford leaders say about 5,000 neighbors gave their feedback during 42 public meetings that have been used to create a blueprint of what a great city looks like and what we have to do to get there. The vision statement will be broken down into categories including education, the economy, jobs, and others. Transform Rockford will then assign volunteers to those categories. Those teams will be in charge of figuring out how to turn that vision into a reality.

"It takes time. and that’s why we say you gotta change that before you chance the culture. and the culture then becomes an attitude of we are great and we only do great things and we only do high quality things and that'll take time to get to that,” said Transform Rockford Chairman, Tom Gendron.

After the mission statement is out there, we’ll still be able to give feedback. The leaders of Transform Rockford will encourage more discussion to tweak it. They’ll also be looking for more volunteers to be on those teams.

To hear the mission statement for yourself or to sign up to volunteer, the Community Vision Rally is next Wednesday, July 9th at the Coronado Theater. It starts at 6:30 p.m.
