CHICAGO (AP) -- Chicago authorities are reporting that one person was killed and six others wounded while standing on West Side street corner.
A Chicago Fire Department spokesman said Friday one person was dead at the scene of the shooting in the East Garfield Park neighborhood. The spokesman says two people were hospitalized in critical condition, two are in fair condition and one is in good condition. One of the wounded refused medical attention.
The ages of the victims weren't immediately known.
Police haven't said what precipitated the shooting.
Police couldn't confirm the number of people shot Friday evening in the East Garfield Park neighborhood. Nor could they confirm early reports that one of the victims has been pronounced dead at the scene.
Officials say all those injured in the shooting are believed to be teenagers. The wounded have been taken to nearby hospitals.
