UPDATE: The frustration continues for MediaCom customers in Winnebago and Stephenson Counties. They remain without cable, internet access, or phone service for a third straight night.
MediaCom workers are still working on replacing five miles of fiber cables that cracked just north of Lena on Monday. They had hoped to be done by 8:00 Tuesday night but a MediaCom spokesperson tells 23 News some equipment issues delayed the process. Crews are nearly done with the work and cable and internet should be restored by the time most of us get up Wednesday morning.
Crews are replacing fiber cables that cracked in Lean. The attempt to patch a temporary part of the cable last night failed when trying to send data through. Complications arose through the older parts of the cable.
Mediacom representatives say they’re hoping for service to be restored between 7 and 8 p.m. Tuesday.
