SOUTH BELOIT (WIFR) -- Sergeant Adam Truman of the South Beloit, Illinois Police Department will be promoted to the rank of Deputy Chief of Police Monday, March 18, 2013 at the regular City Council meeting for the City of South Beloit.
Deputy Chief Truman is a eleven year veteran of the South Beloit Police Department beginning his career five days before the 9/11 attacks. He became a Field Training Officer in November of 2002 and was promoted to the rank of Sergeant in April of 2005. He served a one year stint as acting Chief of Police from October 2009 to October 2010. He is currently a member of the Winnebago/Boone County Integrity Task Force and the current President of the South Beloit Police Pension Board. Deputy Chief Truman recently graduated from the Federal Bureau of Investigations National Academy in Quantico, Virginia and he holds a Bachelor of Science degree from Wisconsin – Stout. Deputy Chief Truman is married to his wonderful wife of nine years, Stacy, and has two beautiful children Carsan (7) and Landon (5).
Deputy Chief Truman’s main function will be assisting the Chief of Police with the continuity of command, Delegate duties to personnel to accomplish the functions of the police department, Responsible for preparing necessary personnel reports citing problems and corrective recommendations, Assist in establishing and ensure adherence to management principles and organizational values in accomplishing the department mission, Work to facilitate and promote community-based policing and community level problem solving, Develop programs to promote partnerships with community members and organizations, Act as a member of the public information component, Conduct and/or oversee scheduling of personnel and ensure proper deployment to promote public and officer safety within a cost effective manner, Assist with the annual department budget process, Attend community meetings and speak on behalf of the department as needed, Plan and implement appropriate training programs and activities to support the development and implementation of community policing, Perform other assignments or duties that may be assigned by the Chief of Police.
