Sen. Dillard Makes Gubernatorial Campaign Stop in Rockford

ROCKFORD (WIFR) -- State Senator Kirk Dillard told a crowd in Rockford that he has his sights once again set on the Governor's Mansion.

In 2010 Dillard lost the Republican Primary to fellow Senator Bill Brady by just 193 votes out of over 750,000 cast. Brady went on to lose to Governor Quinn in the general election by just 19,000 votes out of over three million cast. Most feel that Dillard would have done much better against Quinn than Brady did in the Chicago suburbs. Enough to give him the governorship. Dillard says he's focused on Rockford.

"When I ran last time I was in Winnebago County and Rockford and Belvidere and Boone County more than any other county but my home county of DuPage. Rockford has so much going for it including it's location and infrastructure. And I'm going to be laser focused on Rockford and this area and Northern Illinois' economy. I want companies here, not across the border," Dillard said.

Even if Dillard wins the Republican Primary there's no guarantee he will face Governor Quinn in the general election since Former Obama Chief of Staff Bill Daley is expected to pose a serious threat in the 2014 Democratic Primary.
