Salvation Army Holiday Programs

WINNEBAGO COUNTY (WIFR) -- The Salvation Army of Winnebago County is asking for the community's help to make sure every family in the area has a happy holiday.

Several donors have already dropped off gifts under the giving tree at the CherryVale Mall some of those presents will be sent to local kids who have a parent in the Winnebago county jail. The Salvation Army also plans to give out food baskets to three thousand area families this holiday season. The Salvation Army hopes to raise two hundred thousand dollars through the red kettle program to support its various programs.

“It's a lot of pocket change, it’s a lot of one dollar bills but they add up. When people pass by those kettles and throw their change in there, they might think it’s not very much but it adds up and makes a huge difference,” says Major Randy Hellstrom Winnebago County Coordinator for the Salvation Army.

The Salvation Army could always use more bell ringers. To sign up for a two hour shift go to ringbells, org.
